KEMP Featured in a KAIST Manufacturing AI Keynote at TAS 2023
At TAS 2023, held on the 17th at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza Art Hall in Seoul, Il-jung Kim, head of the KAIST Manufacturing AI Big Data Center, introduced KEMP during his keynote presentation.

In his keynote, Kim discussed the limits of labor-intensive production and the challenge of a shrinking, aging workforce. He noted that manufacturers in countries including Germany were introducing AI and encouraged Korean manufacturers to consider adoption.
At the time of the presentation, KAIST and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups were developing and providing KAMP, an AI manufacturing platform for SMEs. It collects, stores and analyzes factory data, with some cloud services offered at no charge to support smaller manufacturers' competitiveness.
Kim stated that SMEs accounted for more than 97% of Korea's manufacturing ecosystem and explained that KAMP aimed to support companies unable to introduce AI independently.
KEMP introduced AI into its plating process in 2020 through the ministry-supported KAMP program. By supplementing experienced operators' knowledge with AI data analysis and process recommendations, the reported defect rate fell from 32% to 4.9% in the project reported.
