RUST REMOVAL & DEGREASING PRETREATMENT

Citric–phosphoric acid pretreatment for combined rust removal and degreasing

ROC.3 is a mildly acidic pretreatment formulation based on citric and phosphoric acids. It removes corrosion products and oils from steel and galvanized surfaces in a single operation without hydrochloric, sulfuric or nitric acid. Corrosion inhibitors delay re-rusting after treatment. Applications include pretreatment for zinc plating and surface preparation before maintenance coating of steel structures.

Rust and Oil Remover Pretreatment Mildly Acidic Clear
FEATURES

Key properties of combined rust removal and degreasing

Combined Rust and Oil Removal

Combines degreasing and rust removal, reducing pretreatment stages for suitable steel and zinc-coated surfaces.

Citric–phosphoric acid formulation

Formulated with citric and phosphoric acids rather than hydrochloric, sulfuric or nitric acid. It can be evaluated as an alternative pretreatment to conventional acid pickling before zinc plating.

Corrosion Inhibitor

Contains a corrosion inhibitor to delay rust recurrence after cleaning, allowing an interval before subsequent processing under the specified conditions.

Low Odor

The low-odor formulation reduces odor during pretreatment. Use workplace ventilation and personal protective equipment as specified in the SDS and operating instructions.

SAFETY

Product safety documentation and substance test results

Product documentation includes the applicable Korean safety notification and test records.

Meets the referenced Korean consumer chemical product safety requirements

No detection in 4 reported test items, including formaldehyde and benzene. The referenced Korean safety notification and assessment documents are available.

Child-resistant Packaging Documentation

The referenced packaging passed the applicable child-resistant packaging assessment. Follow the product's storage and handling instructions.

26 Reported Substance Test Items: Not Detected

A report covering 26 non-detected substance test items, including Pb, Cd, Hg and hexavalent chromium, is available. Refer to the report for its scope and test methods.

Based on the product catalog and available test reports. Refer to the original reports for methods and detailed conditions.

LINE-UP

Liquid and gel formulations by application method

Liquid formulation

Larger Areas / Immersion and Application

The flowable liquid formulation is suitable for immersion treatment and large-area application.

420ml 830ml

Gel formulation

Localized Areas / Brush Application

Brush application to vertical surfaces and localized repair areas uses the gel's retention properties to limit sagging and run-off.

460ml 920ml

Larger 5 kg and 20 kg packages are also available for on-site and industrial use.

APPLICATIONS

Zinc-plating pretreatment and rust removal from equipment and structures

Documented pretreatment applications include repairs to corroded bent sections on solar-support structures.

Pretreatment for On-site Steel Repairs

Removes rust and oil from corroded steel structures to prepare the surface for a compatible repair coating.

Zinc Plating Pretreatment / Pickling Alternative

Can be evaluated as an alternative to hydrochloric- or sulfuric-acid pickling before zinc plating.

Rust removal from tools, equipment and household metal items

For rust removal from suitable tools, equipment and household items in accordance with product directions and safety precautions.

Use with a Protective Coating System

Rust removal and degreasing are followed by G·SAVE protective repair coating, integrating surface preparation and maintenance coating operations.

PRODUCT ANSWERS

ROC.3: Key Questions

Review the intended use and application conditions before selecting a rust remover.

What challenges does ROC.3 address?

Combines rust and oil removal from steel surfaces to simplify pretreatment before zinc plating or on-site repair.

How does it differ from strong-acid pickling?

A mildly acidic product based on citric and phosphoric acids, without hydrochloric, sulfuric or nitric acid. Application conditions must be assessed for the substrate and contamination.

How should I choose between liquid and gel?

Consider the liquid for immersion or circulation cleaning, and the gel for vertical surfaces or localized areas where run-off should be limited.
