TRANSPARENT INORGANIC POST-TREATMENT

Clear inorganic coating for enhanced zinc corrosion resistance

G+PLUS is a clear corrosion-protection coating based on an inorganic (ceramic) binder. It inhibits oxidation and dissolution of the zinc layer and serves as an alternative to chromate post-treatment for hot-dip galvanized and electrogalvanized products. A 1–3 μm film preserves the original zinc finish while improving corrosion resistance. The coating cures at ambient temperature and dries within 15 minutes.

FEATURES

Zinc-layer stabilization and corrosion-resistance enhancement

Zinc Stabilization and Reduced Oxidation

The ceramic formulation interacts with the zinc coating to stabilize the surface, inhibit oxidation and dissolution, and improve corrosion resistance.

Chromate Post-treatment Alternative

Can be evaluated as an alternative to chromate post-treatment on hot-dip galvanized or electrogalvanized products.

Thin-film Application

A 1–3 µm film dries at room temperature within the stated 15-minute period. Two coats are used where additional corrosion resistance is required, subject to the application specification.

Clear Finish, Original Appearance

The clear, colorless film is designed to delay white rust while retaining the appearance and color of the zinc coating.

VERIFIED PERFORMANCE

Salt spray test (SST) corrosion-performance comparison

Comparison of corresponding zinc-coated specimens with and without G+PLUS treatment.

SYSTEM

Clear topcoat for galvanized-surface repair systems

KEMP's aerosol repair system combines G·SAVE corrosion-protection layer formation, Innotouch appearance restoration and G+PLUS clear topcoating. The sequence integrates protection of exposed steel with final protection of the repaired coating.

01

G·SAVE

Zinc-containing repair coating for corroded areas where steel is exposed.

02

Innotouch

Touch up scratches, darkening and other visible damage with a bright-silver finish.

03

G+PLUS

Apply the final clear layer to supplement corrosion protection.

APPLICATIONS

Post-treatment of new galvanized components and repair topcoats

Newly Zinc-coated Components

Used to enhance corrosion resistance and delay white rust on electrogalvanized and hot-dip galvanized components.

Chromate Post-treatment Alternative

Can be evaluated as a replacement post-treatment for a chromate process.

Bolted Joints and Other Vulnerable Areas

Provides additional protection at bolted connections and joints where required.

Final Protective Coating After Repair

Provides a final protective finish after G·SAVE and Innotouch repairs.

PRODUCT ANSWERS

G+PLUS: Key Questions

Key considerations for evaluating an additional protective coating on zinc electroplating.

What challenges does G+PLUS address?

A clear inorganic coating designed to delay white rust and improve the corrosion resistance of electrogalvanized surfaces.

Will it change the appearance?

The clear formulation is designed to retain the appearance of the zinc coating. Confirm the actual finish on samples under the intended substrate and application conditions.

What should be assessed before adoption?

Review the existing plating process, chromate and sealer stages, required salt spray performance, drying conditions and production throughput.
